Affiliate disclosure
Last updated October 24, 2026.
The short version
Illiterati earns a commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.
The longer version
Every “where to listen” link on the discovery pages is an affiliate link. If you follow one and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay exactly what you would have paid arriving there any other way — affiliate commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket.
The programmes in use here: Audible, Libro.fm, Bookshop.org, Kindle. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What it does not buy
Placement. The charts on this site are Audible’s own catalogue rankings — bestsellers, risers, and new releases — fetched as they are and rendered in the order they arrive. Nothing is promoted, inserted, reordered, or removed on commercial grounds, and no publisher pays to appear here. Ratings and runtimes are reported as the catalogue reports them.
The one place the order is ours
Deals is sorted by this site rather than by Audible — by price, by what a single credit buys, and by the wait at the library — and the page says so at the top of itself. Every number on it is Audible’s own list price, read on the morning of the build, and nothing on it is compared against a price that was never charged. The deeper shelves are the other: “highest rated in Space Opera” is our regrouping of books Audible gave us, ordered by Audible’s ratings.
Neither ordering knows what anything pays. There is no field anywhere in this site that records a commission rate, and no shelf on it has ever been sorted by one.
Books you read with your eyes
Below the buy row, each book page carries the print and Kindle editions of the same title. Those links are affiliate links too, they are drawn as small text rather than as buttons, and the row says in as many words that neither of them is an audiobook. Buying a Kindle edition after following one pays this site the same way buying the audiobook does.
The hops between here and the shop
Some buy links go to /go/ on this site before they reach the shop. That is one
redirect, and all it does is read which country the request came from so a reader outside the
United States is sent to their own storefront instead of the American one. It stores nothing,
sets nothing, and is not counted.
The Libro.fm button is the other, and it is not ours.
Libro.fm pays through an affiliate network called Awin, so that button goes to
awin1.com first, which records the click, sets a cookie of its own that lasts 30
days, and forwards you to Libro.fm. That is a company neither of us is — not us and not
Libro.fm — standing in the path, and the privacy page says
what it does with the click. Our own /go/ hop is a different thing to a different
end, and the Libro.fm link never uses it.
Data
Following an affiliate link hands you off to the retailer, which sets its own cookies to attribute the sale. We receive aggregate reports of totals — never who you are or what you bought. See the privacy policy.
