The Resistance

The beloved author of Rescued invites readers to discover the story of the God who creates, rescues, and mobilizes us to share in the work of renewing the human family.

“Life-changing . . . Fr. John Riccardo speaks directly to the struggles of our time and the deepest needs of our hearts.”—Lisa Brenninkmeyer, founder and CEO of Walking with Purpose

We all know the conflict within every soul that affects our whole world: Our lives are of infinite worth and yet something is radically amiss. Faced with the gap between what we know life should look like and how human existence falls short, we are tempted to despair: to suspect that God, if He exists at all, is either uninterested or just disappointed in us.

Fr. John Riccardo, Catholic priest, author, and founder of ACTS XXIX, has spent nearly thirty years repeating the same simple and life-giving message: Don’t give up. You matter to God!

The Resistance is not another religious instruction manual or theological textbook. It’s a deeply personal reintroduction to the gospel as the one story that makes sense of everything: who we are, why we exist, what’s gone wrong, and what God has done about it. Both pastoral and accessible, The Resistance brings readers into the heart of a God who’s often misunderstood, ignored, or rejected—and who longs to be known.

Through storytelling, Scripture, and raw honesty, Fr. John invites readers to wrestle with the biggest questions we face:

• Why am I here? • Where am I going? • How do I get there?

This book is about recovering a true vision of God and, in doing so, recovering who we are and what God is inviting us to do to help renew the human family and re-create the world He so loves. It is about learning to see not through the lens of modern culture but through the lens of Scripture. And it is about unleashing hope in a world that’s starving for it.
