The Orioles of Willowmere Orchard

Willowmere Orchard has always belonged to many voices: orioles nesting in the old fruit trees, bees working the blossoms, mice gathering fallen seeds, and thrushes guarding the hedgerows.

But when a large flock of starlings arrives after a harsh season elsewhere, the balance begins to break. The newcomers seize nesting hollows, swarm food trees, drown out warning calls, and use their numbers to make every challenge seem hopeless.

Led by the Brightwing oriole family—parents Cael and Maris, their observant daughter Liora, bold young son Fen, and Grandmother Ilyra—the orioles must decide how to defend their home without becoming crueler than the flock they oppose.

Their struggle becomes a continuous fable about unity, strategy, restraint, shared resources, and the difference between protecting a community and simply defeating an enemy.
