The Story of Leo Lionni

A lively, colorful picture book biography detailing the life of one of children’s literature’s most celebrated and decorated authors, complete with extensive backmatter.

Before famed author/illustrator Leo Lionni was anything--a Caldecott medalist, an artist, a graphic designer--he was a boy in Amsterdam, alone in his room, fascinated by wildlife, finding joy in the world around him, and looking for ways to express his creativity in a world bent on destroying it. In this definitive picture book biography endorsed by Leo's granddaughter, Annie, debut author Maya P. Lim's exuberant and playful art perfectly captures the energy and whimsy of the late Lionni's most beloved work, and celebrates the life of a boy who dreamed of connecting the world through imagination.
