Who Is Martha Stewart?

Learn how Martha Stewart went from babysitting to becoming an expert in cooking, hosting, gardening, decorating, and so much more.

Martha Stewart is a global superstar who has built businesses, written more than one hundred books, and become an icon. All before social media was invented or "lifestyle" channels were on the air, Martha built a media empire. She has hosted a television show, published her own magazines like Martha Stewart Living, designed home decor lines, and developed a lifestyle brand—and made herself the boss.

Follow Martha's journey from growing up as the daughter of second-generation Polish Americans in New Jersey, to working as a teen model, to becoming an ambitious young mother and stockbroker, to achieving recognition worldwide as the queen of homemaking. Her drive to make fresh foods, flowers, and ideas accessible to all women and families—and to teach everyone that good things come from hard work and persistence—brought her fame, fortune, and more success than she could have imagined.

Today, Martha's still writing and appearing on magazine covers. She's starring on podcasts and opening restaurants. The industry she helped build around home design and lifestyle has shaped our society, and her legacy is only growing. Her message is stronger than ever: If you push yourself, there is no limit to what you can achieve.
